Because it wouldn't be a party without party bags!

A little bit of nostalgia is quite nice; we decided that it wouldn't be a party without party bags. Having searched through our vast selection of cookery books, we opted for the Hairy Bikers 'Mums Know Best' and made their Millionaire's Shortbread to put in to the party bags (as well as some mini Easter eggs, a piece of flapjack and a token Easter chick).

This is a tried and tested recipe and the Millionaire's shortbread it absolutely amazing. Taste and indulgence is definitely 10/10.

Here are some party bag pictures:

And the recipe for the shortbread (give it a go, it really is well worth it!):

Millionaire’s Shortbread.

Ingredients:
Base –
125g butter, room temperature,
50g caster sugar
175g plain flour

Topping –
400g condensed milk
50g butter
50g soft brown sugar
150g  Cadbury’s milk chocolate

Method:
Mix the butter, sugar and flour to form a dough. Press in to a greased 23cm square cake tin and bake at 190oc/ gas mark 5 for 20 minutes. Leave to cool.

Meanwhile, make the topping. Pour the mil into a heavy bottomed pan and add the butter and sugar. Bring to the boil and then boil gently for five minutes, stirring continuously so the mixture doesn’t stick.

Pour the topping over the shortbread and place in the fridge to set. Once the topping has set, melt the chocolate in a bowl over a pan of simmering water and pour it over the topping. Leave to set again and then cut in to squares.
Taste: 10/10
Ease 8.5/10
